Lolito is a patented set of tools and techniques developed in collaboration with True Heroes Films. It is not a camera or audio system — it is what goes around those: the mounts, rigs, supports, positioning approaches, and workflow methods that allow broadcast-quality capture in unpredictable field conditions.

One of its distinctive features is an approach to audio that allows clean dialogue capture at a distance, without a microphone attached to the subject. In human rights contexts this matters — it keeps the interaction natural and reduces the visible footprint of a formal recording.

THF can advise on which camera and audio equipment to pair with the Lolito system, based on the context and budget of each organisation. The tools themselves are compact, travel-friendly, and set up quickly.

Lolito is used by practitioners who are not necessarily professional camera operators. The goal is a kit and an approach that stays out of the way — so the person using it can stay focused on the situation, the subject, or the event they are documenting.

The training covers the full workflow: pre-interview preparation, setting up the kit quickly and discreetly, conducting the interview while remaining fully present with the subject, and post-production basics for archiving and safe sharing.

A central theme throughout the training is the difference between footage that documents and footage that dignifies. Lolito training does not separate technical skill from ethical judgment — they are taught together at every step.

Instruction is provided to small groups — typically as part of a kit handover or when an organisation starts using Lolito for the first time. It is practical and hands-on rather than formal training: working through the kit together, practising in the actual settings the team will use it in.

Sessions can be on-site, at a THF location, or remote for geographically distributed teams. The approach is adapted to each context — the type of documentation, the region, and the experience level of the people involved.

Follow-up is available: teams can share footage for a review conversation, and THF can provide guidance when a first larger documentation project is underway.

The Lolito system has no fixed configuration. The tools are modular and selected to fit the needs, experience, and working context of each user or organisation — not the other way around.

A team doing longer documentary work in a relatively controlled setting needs a different setup than someone moving quickly between locations in a single day. Camera and audio equipment is not supplied, but THF can advise on what works well with the Lolito approach.
