Freedom of Expression
Your right to speak, publish, share information, and access media without censorship or retaliation. This includes freedom of the press, artistic expression, and the right to seek and receive information.
Protection from Violence & Torture
Absolute prohibition of torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. No exceptions apply, even in war or emergency. States must prevent, investigate, and prosecute acts of torture.
Right to Education
Everyone has the right to education. Elementary education shall be free and compulsory. Education must develop human personality and respect for human rights.
Fair Trial & Justice
Right to fair and public hearing by independent tribunal. Presumption of innocence. Legal representation. No arbitrary arrest or detention.
Privacy & Personal Security
Protection from arbitrary interference with privacy, family, home or correspondence. Right to security of person and protection from attacks on honour and reputation.
Equality & Non-Discrimination
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. No discrimination based on race, color, sex, language, religion, political opinion, national or social origin.
Economic & Social Rights
Right to work, fair wages, social security, adequate living standard including food, housing, healthcare. Right to rest and leisure.
Children's Rights
Special protections for children including right to education, protection from exploitation, right to identity, and right to be heard in matters affecting them.
Freedom of Religion & Belief
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion - including the freedom to change religion and to manifest belief through worship, teaching and practice. States must protect believers, non-believers, and those who change their faith.
Right to Asylum & Refugee Protection
Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy asylum from persecution. Refugees must not be returned to places where they face serious threats to their life or freedom. States must provide protection and basic rights to those who have fled.
Freedom of Assembly & Association
The right to gather peacefully and form or join organisations - including trade unions, political parties, NGOs, and civil society groups. States must enable collective action and protest without arbitrary restriction.
Right to a Nationality
Everyone has the right to a nationality. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of their nationality or the right to change it. Statelessness leaves people without access to rights, services, and legal protection.
Cultural Rights & Minority Protections
The right to participate in cultural life, access one's own heritage, use one's language, and practise one's traditions. Minorities and indigenous peoples have the right to enjoy their own culture and not be forcibly assimilated.
Right to Health
Everyone has the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. This includes access to healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and the underlying conditions needed for a healthy life - not just the absence of disease.
Women's Rights & Gender Equality
Women have equal rights with men in all areas of life - civil, political, economic, social and cultural. States must eliminate discrimination against women and take active steps to dismantle structural inequalities in law, policy, and practice.
